Urban Outfitters- boho chic home decor!

Urban outfitters isn't just for clothing anymore. I just discovered their amazing collection of home decor. Right now they feature some bold patterns and colors that are sure to inspire. Base your room around one of their wallpapers or bedding collections.

The spa isn't always blue...

One of the most highly requested things in bedroom design is "i want it to be spa- like" and one of the biggest misconceptions is that spa is automatically blue or blue green. That is not the case at all. In-fact, the tranquility of a spa can be achieved using any cool color and even a light tone of a warm color. Today's color scheme was inspired by Crate and Barrel's beautiful bedding collection called Marimekko Puutarha Puutarha Lilac Bedding http://www.crateandbarrel.com/bed-and-bath/all-decorative-bedding/marimekko-puutarha-puutarha-lilac-bed-linens/f40348 . Pairing this serene pattern with cool light gray, dark charcoal, and lilacs picked up from the bedding creates a spa like feeling.

Color Scheme: Turquoise and Red

You don't always need to look to interior design magazines & websites for color inspiration. It can come from anywhere! I found this one while browsing for wedding ideas for a friend- turquoise and red- a wonderful and fresh color combination! This inspiration board shows how well the colors work together and pulling it off is rather simple- pick your shade of turquoise- we like a robins egg color like the one shown on the plates in the upper left corner. For red, it's  best to go with a bright red that's not too orange, but not too pink like the one in the chandelier next to the plates. Your walls will look best if they are a light shade of your blue, then you could go bold with red furniture, or stick with a neutral. Finally add a lot of accessories in red and turquoise to finish the look. Refreshing and fun ;)

Color Scheme: Moroccan Spice

Did you ever dream of escaping to a far away and exotic land like Morocco?  It's not as easy as it sounds, but decorating your home to feel like a Moroccan paradise is as simple as could be! What you want to do when designing a Moroccan inspired room is focus on spice colors such as berries, burnt oranges, mustard yellows and reds. You could even throw in a plum accent to tone it down. We found this fantastic bedding from Crate and Barrel to start off the palette http://www.crateandbarrel.com/bed-and-bath/all-decorative-bedding/marimekko-tilkkula-spice-bed-linens/f37839. After you establish your bedding and yoru ground colors, it's time to have some fun with accents.  Throw in a few Moroccan inspired accessories and like this lantern http://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Creations-13245-Moroccan-Lantern/dp/B003U2YBMS/ref=pd_bxgy_op_img_c , an exotic mirror like this one http://www.crateandbarrel.com/decorating-and-accessories/mirrors/starburst-mirror/s538345, or this Moroccan inspired pouf http://www.cb2.com/pillows-throws/accessories/knitted-poufs/f6099?fromLocation=search and voila! You have yourself an exotic paradise.

Oh, it’s Monday… Let’s start the workweek right with a dash of color inspiration! Today we are all over the plums. Plums are a wonderful color to add to your décor for a few reasons the first being that they go well with many neutrals and accent colors. There are many different plum varieties and they go well with so many different accent colors. Pair them with green, yellow, orange, red, pink, gray… they work with a lot. Plums usually have warm undertones, they aren’t girly like purple, but they still have a softness that many people desire in their home. We love to pair plum with yellows and GRELLOW: yellow-green.

When we first found this amazing Undersea area rug from Home Decorators Colleciton, we knew we were in love. We already established the color scheme for a client’s bedroom makeover when we came across this perfect mixture of colors. It pulled the whole look together beautifully. Which brings me to my next point… Starting with an area rug is a GREAT way to go about designing a room. If you find a rug that you love and pull the rest of your room colors from that, you really have a no-fail pulled together

look.
